SEO & Transcreation Case Study:
Boutique Hotel Landing Page

Project Overview

This project involved creating and translating a boutique hotel landing page from Spanish to English as a sample exercise.

The focus was on keeping the hotel’s warm, modern voice while also optimizing the content for English-speaking travelers and search engines. It’s a demonstration of my ability to combine brand-consistent transcreation with SEO-focused copywriting.

Keyword Research & Strategy

When translating and transcreating a boutique hotel landing page, it’s not just about words. The goal is to make sure the page gets in front of the right audience at the right time.

For this project, I conducted keyword research to identify the terms and phrases English-speaking travelers are actually searching for when planning their stay in Madrid. The goal was to seamlessly integrate these keywords into the copy without compromising the lifestyle-focused voice of the hotel.

Primary Keywords

These are the terms travelers are most likely to search for when looking for a boutique hotel in Madrid. I placed them strategically in headings, body copy, and metadata for maximum SEO impact:

KeywordPlacement
boutique hotel MadridHero section, Meta Title
rooftop terrace MadridRooftop section, ALT text
hotel near Gran VíaLocation section, body copy
rooms with city view MadridRooms mention, body copy
Mediterranean cuisine MadridRestaurant section, ALT text
flexible booking MadridCTA / Booking section

Long-Tail Keywords

Long-tail keywords help capture more specific search intent, attracting travelers with very particular needs. These were integrated naturally into sentences, so the copy remained fluid and inviting:

  • Central Madrid boutique hotel with rooftop pool

  • Best boutique hotel for travelers in Madrid

  • Hotel with breakfast and seasonal dishes Madrid

Keyword Strategy Notes

StrategyDetails
Organic integrationKeywords were woven naturally into headings, body text, and calls-to-action, avoiding any forced repetition.
Prioritized placementPrimary keywords appear in hero sections, headings, and metadata for higher search relevance.
Long-tail focusLong-tail phrases were included in descriptive sentences to capture highly specific traveler searches.
SEO-friendly headingsAll section headings were crafted to be both enticing for readers and optimized for search engines.

The result? Copy that reads smoothly and persuasively for travelers while giving the page the best chance to be found online. This section demonstrates how thoughtful keyword strategy works hand-in-hand with transcreation to create a marketing-ready, SEO-friendly landing page.

Why Not Just Use Machine Translation?

When translating a landing page, it might be tempting to rely on machine translation (MT). It’s fast and “accurate” in a literal sense. But MT often misses brand voice, cultural nuances, and marketing intent, which are crucial for connecting with travelers and encouraging bookings.

For this Hotel Aurora Madrid project, the goal was not just to translate words, but to adapt the copy so it reads naturally in English, reflects the hotel’s warm, boutique-lifestyle personality, and supports SEO strategy.

Key considerations:
  • Brand voice: MT can produce stiff or unnatural sentences. A boutique hotel needs a friendly, inviting, and experiential tone.

  • Cultural adaptation: Idioms and phrasing must resonate with English-speaking travelers.

  • SEO strategy: Keywords like “boutique hotel Madrid,” “rooftop terrace,” and “Mediterranean cuisine” were integrated strategically, something MT does not consider.

  • Conversion-focused language: Calls-to-action, headings, and benefits needed persuasive phrasing that encourages reservations.

The table below compares segments from the Spanish text, a literal MT, and my translation. This shows how even a modest transcreation improves readability, voice, and SEO integration.
